Date: 31 August, 2024 | 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Louis Stettner (1922-2016) stands as one of the most celebrated photogra-phers of the 20th century. With a career spanning over seven decades, Stettner's work sings life, weaving together human stories and architectural beauty with an unparalleled elegance. I believe his work stands out in the pho-tography world due to his ability to con-vey profound human emotions and everyday life with an understated yet powerful authenticity. Stettner's unique perspective, combined with his master technique, render his photographs time-less. Some of his renowned oblique gaze compositions give a sense of depth and narrative complexity to his subjects. By capturing them from slightly off-center angles, Stettner created images that feel both intimate and dynamic, inviting viewers to explore the nuances wi... Read more

Date: 15 August, 2024 | 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Ora-Ora is delighted to announce Peng Jian’s solo exhibition Generative Canvas. The exhibition will take place at Ora-Ora’s Tai Kwun space from 15 August - 26 September 2024. As a new series of works on canvas, it extends Peng Jian’s creative thread from observing daily life and objects, to observing daily actions. In his new series Generative Canvas, Peng adapted software regeneration in his creative process. As selected photographs are repeatedly regenerated, the new images are used as a blueprint for his final artworks on canvas. This method excludes the factor of randomness, and instilled algorithmic processes in his creations. Seen in Generative Canvas, Peng Jian mainly focuses on the “identity“ of the image over representation. He favours “what it is” over “what it looks like”, in ... Read more
