Amanda Hon

Ben Brown Fine Arts

Amanda Hon is the managing director of Ben Brown Fine Arts in Hong Kong, where she handles all operations of the gallery including growing the gallery program, curating shows, and expansion of the gallery’s outreach in Asia.  Before moving permanently to Hong Kong to take up her current post, Amanda was associate director at Mitchell-Innes and Nash in New York.  Amanda holds a B.S. from NYU, a M.A. from Sotheby’s Institute of Art University of Manchester, and a J.D. from New York Law School.  She is a certified lawyer in New York, New Jersey and California.

Claudia Albertini

MASSIMODECARLO

Claudia Albertini is senior director at MASSIMODECARLO gallery in Hong Kong. With almost twenty years’ working experience in Asia, Claudia has first lived in Beijing since 2004, then Hong Kong since 2012, and grown into a reference figure in the contemporary arts field thanks to her insight in the Asian art scene and her connections within the region. Claudia has developed a strong network among the growing collectors scene as well as she has managed projects and programs to foster the international recognition of Asian artists abroad and Western artists in Asia. A sinologist trained as an Asian art specialist, Claudia holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Ca’ Foscari University (Venice, Italy), a MA in Chinese Advanced Studies from the University of Sheffield (Sheffield, UK) and has completed an executive course with Sotheby’s Institute of Arts in London “Executive Education: Business Management in the Art World”.

Angela Li

Contemporary by Angela Li

Angela Li is the founder of Contemporary by Angela Li, representing emerging and established artists from Hong Kong, China and beyond since its establishment in 2008. Angela holds a degree in Business Mathematics & Statistics from the London School of Economics & Political Science, University of London. She was a banker at HSBC and later set up her own art consultancy company. Since its establishment, her gallery has gained considerable attention under Angela’s direction, bringing surprises to the local and international art scene.

Faina Derman

Faina Derman is a gallerist and founding director of Sundaram Tagore Gallery Hong Kong. With locations in New York City, Singapore, and Hong Kong, Sundaram Tagore Gallery is dedicated to examining the exchange of ideas between Western and non-Western cultures. Among its recent museum exhibitions were Frontiers Reimagined at the Museo di Palazzo Grimani in Venice, a collateral event of the 56th Venice Biennale; Sebastião Salgado: The World Through His Eyes at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, and a photography exhibition at the Ayala Museum in Manila. Under Faina's guidance the gallery has held exhibitions for numerous artists including Robert Polidori, Hiroshi Senju, Edward Burtynsky, Jane Lee, Sebastião Salgado, Susan Weil, Golnaz Fathi, and Sohan Qadri. Prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2007, Faina worked at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery in New York City and Marlborough Gallery in Madrid. She was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, and educated in the United States, where she received a master’s degree in art history and an undergraduate degree in international business from the University of Georgia.

Rachel Lee

Soluna Fine Art

Rachel Eunju Lee is the Founder and Director of Soluna Fine Art, a Korea and Hong Kong based contemporary fine art gallery. A Seoul-born fine artist, curator, collector and art lecturer, she has amassed profound knowledge and understanding of both traditional and contemporary art from South Korea. Lee studied under the tutelage of the great Korean painters such as Park Seo-bo and Choi Myoung-Young at Hongik University, South Korea’s leading art school. Having previously lived in Seoul and the US, she moved to Hong Kong following what she felt was her ‘calling’ to establish a gallery in Asia that would support not only artists from Korea, but also those from the across Asia.

Mariko Kawashima

Mariko Kawashima is the gallery director of Axel Vervoordt Gallery Hong Kong, where she manages the business operations of the gallery. Her responsibilities include curating exhibitions and creating gallery programs that appeal to the aesthetics and tastes of Asia and Europe while engaging international audiences in participating in cultural exchange. From an early age in her native Tokyo, she was deeply imbued with an ardent passion for the arts. Her aesthetic sensibilities are deeply rooted in her Japanese heritage. This cultural influence endows her with profound discipline and an unwavering dedication to creativity, which have shaped her journey in the realm of the regional art scene.

Fabio Rossi

Rossi & Rossi

Fabio Rossi was born in 1963 in Turin, Italy. At the age of eleven, he accompanied his mother, Anna Maria, on a trip to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. This early exposure to Asia – its culture, arts and people – had a lasting impact on him, inspiring his future professional endeavours. Fabio moved to London in 1983 to attend the School of Oriental and African Studies, from which he obtained both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in art and archaeology. After a brief apprenticeship with the legendary dealership of Spink & Son, he joined forces with his mother, who had moved to London in 1986, to establish the gallery known today as Rossi & Rossi. Beginning in the late 1980s, Fabio started travelling extensively within the United States, reaching out to museums and collectors throughout the country, and developing relationships that endure to this day. Since 2005, Fabio has also been instrumental in nurturing the careers of artists of the greater Asia – Pacific region – from Tibet to Cambodia, Hong Kong to Pakistan. He moved to Hong Kong in 2011, two years later, he opened a gallery where he now exhibits the work of artists who would otherwise lack local exposure in addition to the classical Himalayan art for which he and his mother have become world renowned. Over the years, Rossi & Rossi’s innovative exhibitions and top-notch scholarly publications in both the classical and contemporary realms have solidified the gallery’s status as leaders in the wide-ranging field of Asian art.

Vincent Chan

Leo Gallery

Vincent Chan is the co-owner of Leo Gallery in Hong Kong and in Shanghai. Having spent 17 years in the UK and Canada, Vincent returned to Hong Kong in 2006 and delved into the local art scene upon earning an MA degree from Sotheby's Institute of Art, University of Manchester. Vincent's gallery is dedicated to sculptures and public art, promoting artistic and cultural dialogue among artists and art lovers in Hong Kong, Shanghai and the rest of the world.

William Fong

William Fong is a corporate lawyer. His practice focuses on advising public and private companies, including private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, on domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures. William is also actively engaged in the operation of Yan Gallery, which represents a prestigious group of artists from Mainland China, Hong Kong and abroad. William is also an avid art collector.

Meg Maggio

Meg Maggio is director of Pékin Fine Arts, a Beijing and Hong Kong based contemporary art gallery and art advisory consultancy. Ms. Maggio is a 25+ year Beijing resident, and former corporate attorney turned visual arts entrepreneur. She advises major museums, corporations and private clients on building and maintaining art collections. She sits on the Board of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, and has witnessed as a pioneer the rapid development of the Chinese contemporary art scene since the 1980's.

Katie de Tilly

10 Chancery Lane Gallery

Katie de Tilly is a founding member and co-president of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association. She opened 10 Chancery Lane Gallery in 2001 with the aim to explore the rich historical, social and cultural context of the region. 10 Chancery Lane Gallery focuses on art from the Asia-Pacific. The artists represented come from India, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia, some who have exhibited at major international institutions such as Tate Modern, MoMA NY, and M+ HK. The gallery is dedicated to exploring the development of art from the lesser-known art movements of Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. Katie sits on the board of the Tate APAC committee and the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) of RMIT University.

Karin Weber

Karin Weber Gallery

Karin Weber arrived from London to Hong Kong in 1990 and worked for 5 years for an international company. Drawing on experience gained in London working in the Antique/Fine Art field, she first opened an antique shop and once a month arranged weekend antiquing trips to Zhaoqing, Southern China. After 4 years, she held her first gallery show from May-June 1999: “Spiritual Enlightenment”, a sell-out solo show by Burmese artist, Min WAE AUNG. Today the artist is of course known all around the world. Travelling at least 2-3 times a year to Burma, Karin also got to know many more artists and gradually the Karin Weber Gallery became known for Burmese art. The emphasis then moved to an international artists program. Whilst retaining many Burmese artists, Karin also brought artists to Hong Kong from China, Cambodia, Singapore, Australia, USA and of course, Germany. For example in 2013, her gallery showed 3 German artists in solo exhibitions: Willi Siber, Tina Buchholtz and Andrea Bender. In 2011, Karin took the initiative to find like-minded gallerists to think about a Hong Kong Art Gallery Association. The formation of the HKAGA was finally achieved in October 2012 and together with Henrietta Tsui-Leung, Karin served as Co-President. In March 2014, Karin moved to Berlin, Germany, leaving the Gallery in the capable hands of Stephanie Braun (London), Leena Gidwani (Bombay) and Kenneth Young (Hong Kong). Karin is now responsible for developing the German market. In October of the same year, she organised her first exhibition in Berlin showing new works by Tina Buchholtz.

Henrietta Tsui-Leung

Henrietta is the founder of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association and the owner of Galerie Ora-Ora, one of the leading galleries in Hong Kong for Chinese and Western contemporary art. Since inception, Ora-Ora has grown to manage nearly forty veteran artists worldwide, including Europe, North America, Australia, Asia, China and Hong Kong. Henrietta is an expert in Contemporary Ink Art and curates state-of-the-art exhibitions in Hong Kong approximately once every two months. Her gallery participated in numerous Art Fairs inclusive of Art Basel Hong Kong, Art HK, Fine Art Asia, Art Asia Miami, Art Singapore, Young Art Taipei, etc. Henrietta’s background is multi-disciplinary. Before she took up her passion in art, she spent eleven years in the banking industry with Citigroup and HSBC, with specialisation in corporate finance, public sector, real estate and top-tiers local corporations. Currently, Henrietta is completing her PhD degree in Art Critic and Theory in China's Academy for Art Industries, Shanghai University. She also holds an MBA degree from Kellogg Business School, Northwestern University, and undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Economics from Queens University. She is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation Hong Kong. Throughout her childhood, she was immersed in art and was trained in different media including oils, pastel, Chinese painting and sketching. Due to her unique background in business and art, she has been widely invited to speak and write academic papers on Contemporary Ink, art market, art investments, valuation, art licensing and art finance.

Adriana Alvarez-Nichol

Art specialist and dealer, Adriana Alvarez-Nichol founded Puerta Roja in 2010, the only gallery in Asia Pacific to specialise in Latin American and Spanish Art.

Born in Mexico, but spent her working life in London and around the world, Adriana is a founding Board member and Vice President of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association. Prior to becoming an art dealer, Adriana’s long career in investment and private banking took her to Europe, Asia Pacific, USA, Africa and the Middle East. Adriana is an Economist from ITAM and holds an MBA from the London Business School. She was also a recipient of the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship and named as one of the “Top Ten Most Powerful Mexican Women Abroad” by CNN. Under her guidance, Puerta Roja collaborates with a wide network of renowned galleries from Latin America, Asia and Europe, independent art exhibition venues, innovative art fairs, international art dealers and non-profit art organisations. The gallery invests in the primary market, arranges for commissions, sources specific mandates and intermediates in the secondary market, primarily between Asian and Latin American private collectors.

Catherine Kwai

Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery

Born in Hong Kong, Ms Catherine Kwai founded Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery in 1991 and from there, she has established three more companies with different specializations in art, namely Kwai Fung Art Consultants, Kwai Po Collection, and Kwai Fung Art Publishing House. Alongside devoting herself in building up a successful career, Ms Kwai has also been actively involved in charity works and public services. She is currently the Board Member of Lord Wilson Heritage Trustees, Member of Board of Directors of Association Culturelle France-Hong Kong Ltd. (Le French May), and the Member of the Academic Committee of the 7th and the 8th Shanghai Biennale. Her contribution in cultural exchange between China and France has earned her the award “Knight of the National Order of the Merit” by the French Government in 2011.
