Hong Kong Art Week Art Car Unveiling Ceremony (Frog King – Artist present)
PMQ Courtyard, 35 Aberdeen St., Central
HK Art Week’s large-scale art installation shall be unveiled this day, with a performance ceremony by local celebrity artist, Frog King.
Hong Kong Art Week’s ‘Art Car’ is a LE MANS PROTOTYPE race car, with its chassis entirely designed by French group ORECA, and its impressive engine by Nissan! It is managed by HK-based KCMG race team and participated in the Le Mans 24 Hours race in France last year, making history by claiming its first victory! Considered the most prestigious single car race championship, the Le Mans 24 Hours race is also regarded as the 2nd most important racing event after the F1. This history-making race car is now in HK and has been decorated by Frog King, making it HK Art Week’s inaugural ‘ART CAR’!
FROG KING is a pioneering conceptual and performance artist who has been breaking boundaries since the late 1960s. He is one of the earliest Chinese contemporary artists to explore the use of ink painting as a conceptual tool, incorporating it as both action and material into multiple-media installations and performances; and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors internationally!
